Orlando Police Officer Accused of Sexual Assault on Duty

September 14, 2017

According to the Orlando Sentinel: Detective Angel Burgos resigned in April after a woman said he forced her to perform a sex act on him in his patrol car. This sexual assault event supposedly happened in December, outside of the supposed victim’s home. This accusation sparked an Internal Affairs investigation that determined that the detective violated the department’s standards of policy and conduct. Even though he resigned, Internal Affairs still recommended termination of Detective Angel Burgos. The detective’s behavior was considered “egregious” (Richard Crabtree, Citizens’ Police Review Board member) and the Orlando Chief of Police said that Burgos’ career in law enforcement is likely over. The chief was even quoted as saying:

“I would suggest to you that not only would the Orlando Police Department not hire him, but any police department in the state of Florida would never hire this individual”
