Prior to practicing law, Attorney Johnson worked for the Indiana University Police Department and received training to become an Indiana Certified law enforcement officer. Attorney Johnson’s experience as a law enforcement officer and Florida State Trooper is leveraged into his current career as an attorney.

Education

In 1985, Attorney Johnson majored in Criminal Justice and obtained a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University. A year later, Attorney Johnson moved to Florida and became a Florida State Trooper. As a Florida State Trooper, Mr. Johnson investigated many accidents, made DUI arrests, and arrests for a variety of other offenses. In 1990, Attorney Johnson decided to switch careers to become an attorney. In November of 1996, Joseph R. Johnson, Esq., went into private practice. He has worked almost exclusively in the field of criminal defense ever since.

Career

Mr. Johnson is a member of the Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Johnson has represented either the State of Florida or an individual client in more than 150 jury trials.
